Exporting  from Great Britain

Export customs paperwork can be just as in-depth as import, in some cases even more so.

For your goods to leave the UK they need an export declaration preparing and submitting for them, there are a few different kinds of export requests we receive here, the main ones being:

  • Export Declaration - goods clearing in the port or station of arrival
  • Transit Document - Goods transiting the port of arrival and clearing at an inland customs location
  • Carnet
The first is the most simple, a declaration basically to get the goods out of the country and satisfy your records.
The second requires an indemnity to be completed and or a financial guarantee to be in place to cover the goods safe arrival
The third is like a passport for the goods allowing them to move between a set amount of countries without the need for paying or guaranteeing customs duties and taxes in those countries (i.e. exhibition goods or race cars etc)

How does it all work?

Our team will provide a template of information we require and the documents needed, it will ask question about the goods, values and weights among other things.

Straight forward exports, we will produce the documents for you to forward to the trucking company, it is important to ask if they have their clearance in place at the port of arrival to save any issues when the truck gets there.

Transit documents require the same amount of information but as it is transiting the port of arrival we need to know the customs location where it will be finalised, failure for the paperwork to be closed will result in fines being issued to us and in turn back to your.

Carnets require a lot more information and we suggest you get in touch with us to talk more about your individual case.

The same as with import procedures, for us to work on your behalf we will forward an appointment document in which you appoint Kleerfreight to be your representative on all clearance matters, there is also an account form which we will require completing to have full information on your business, once we have these returned we will  be able to assist you with all shipments regardless of which trailer or container company they may leave with through.

Our goals are make the preparation of your export paperwork as easy and compliant as possible, for more info please get in touch.
